The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (January 18 to 25) is an important time to reflect on the common bonds that bring us together as believers in Christ, rather than what pulls us apart. It should be the hope of all Christians that we see the return of a visible, unified Church.

On Sunday, January 23, 2022 at 4 p.m., Cardinal Thomas Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, will join a number of other local Christian leaders in praying for Christian Unity. This year, the prayer service will be hosted by Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church and a livestream will be available on the church’s Facebook page.

The homilist at this year’s prayer service is Rev. Archpriest Fr. Zareh Zargarian, Vicar of the Armenian Diocese of Canada and priest of Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church.

The 2022 theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is “We saw the star in the East and we came to worship him” (Mt 2:2). This theme was selected by the Middle Eastern Council of Churches based in Beirut, Lebanon, and it is meant to help us consider a Christian response to the difficulties caused by the pandemic.
